$18-$22/hr DOE
At Playful Learning Cooperative Preschool teachers and parents work together to help children grow through a play-based approach to learning. We are a supportive, creative, and fun community that is eager to welcome a new teacher to our program!
Position Description:
We are seeking to hire a Preschool Teacher for our Explorers (2-3 year olds) and/or Adventurers (3-4 year olds) Classes starting in September of 2022. You are welcome to apply to teach one or both classes! As a cooperative school, we are seeking teachers able to both nurture and engage students as they grow and to provide parents with support and direction in their classroom roles. An ideal candidate will be able to plan and implement an age-appropriate, play-based curriculum, exhibit strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, and will be continually seeking to grow in their teaching and classroom management skills.
Schedule:
Explorers Class (2-3 year olds): Tues/Thurs 9:30-11:30am
Adventurers Class (3-4 year olds): Mon/Wed/Fri 9:30-11:30am
Additional Hours: pre- and post-class preparation, curriculum planning, two monthly Tuesday evening meetings, periodic teacher meetings, and quarterly special events.
Our school year runs September through May and generally follows the Edmonds School District’s calendar for holidays and breaks. This is a part-time position for approximately 30-70 hours per month depending on the number of class(es) taught.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in Early Childhood Education and/or significant experience working in related field
Enthusiasm for and commitment to the collaborative nature of a cooperative preschool
Strong interpersonal skills with both children and adults
Current CPR and First Aid Certification required before start date
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge about child development, play-based education, and positive guidance
Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or actively pursuing relevant education
Two or more years teaching experience
Experience in a co-op or member-run school setting
Teacher Responsibilities:
Plan and implement age- and developmentally-appropriate curriculum, including engaging stations, activities, and circle times
Lead the class and coordinate parent roles; serve as a model for parents in working with young children
Maintain a balanced daily schedule including creative, physical, social, free-choice, and group activities that are interactive, hands-on, and enhance students’ independence
Spend class time observing, interacting, and participating in activities with the children
Utilize Positive Guidance techniques for classroom management
Work independently with strong time-management skills
Commitment to continuing education, within the co-op structure as well as outside opportunities
Attend two monthly Tuesday evening meetings, periodic teacher meetings, and quarterly special events
Fulfill some commitments in Summer of 2020, including classroom set-up, training, open house(s), and co-teacher planning
Work closely with the Edmonds College Parent Educator assigned to the class(es)
Teach effective online content in the event of any future health and safety restrictions on in-person learning

COVID-19 Considerations:
To keep our educators and families safe, we are following guidelines set by OPEP, Snohomish County Dept. of Public Health, and DOH, and have active Risk Management protocols to facilitate best practices for education and safety. Updates are provided in a timely manner to the staff.
Classes are intended to be fully in-person for the 2022-23 school year as safety guidelines allow. Remote learning may be implemented if necessary according to health and safety guidelines, and PLCP has successfully done so throughout the pandemic.
